Burl & Bowl started the way most turning shops do — with one log that was too interesting to burn. A burl is a tree's answer to injury: wild, swirling grain that grows around a wound until it becomes the most beautiful part of the tree. That's the material this shop is named for, and it sets the rule for everything made here: the figure in the wood leads, the tools follow.
The shop is a one-person operation run by Adam White in Parker, Colorado, at the edge of the Front Range. Blanks come from local arborists, storm-fall, and a few trusted suppliers of figured stock — walnut, maple burl, box elder, cocobolo for pens. Bowls are rough-turned green, rested for weeks while the wood moves and settles, then finish-turned and oiled by hand.
Every piece is signed, numbered with its own SKU, and logged — the wood it came from, the date it was finished, where it sold. When you buy a Burl & Bowl piece, you get its story with it.
